Fragrance Launch

The bottle was designed to share components across the product line for the 100ml and 30ml bottles.

Design Inspiration

The bottle design takes on a smooth silhouette and a clear blue-colored tint to contrast with wood and rope cleat elements.

Premium Materials

The bottle has a heavily weighted zamac cap with polypropylene inner. The milled stained wood plate is glued onto the shoulder of the bottle.

Best Performing Fragrance

Maritime has gone on to be one of Tommy Bahama's best-selling fragrances. Due to the success, Tommy Bahama has created multiple flankers, Triumph, Journey, Deep Blue, and more to come. The Fragrance Foundation nominated Maritime in 2017 for men's packaging of the year 2017. Maritime Deep Blue was also nominated for men's packaging of the year in 2019.

The Process

We took a deep dive into the heritage of the Tommy Bahama Brand and curated a style board that celebrates the finer things in life. Drawing inspiration from an adventurous sailing lifestyle, we explored a sense of style representing the craftsmanship and details that embody the sailing adventure. I then translated the style into the design and development process to create a design that focuses on refined wood, beautiful glass, and chrome metals. Once we narrowed in on concepts, I then proceeded to look at the forms in 3D, working through design details and materials and finishes for the bottle design.

Form Development

We created and Analyzed multiple files in CAD to evaluate our ideas in 3D, then 3D printed numerous designs to evaluate form, size impression, and design details.

The Details Matter

We evaluated test samples to dial in final colors, materials and finishes for product targets and production Sign-off.
